Hello McKinley Families,
Today is the beginning of Latinx Heritage Month. We celebrate Latinx Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Latinx individuals to inspire our students to achieve greatness. Our teachers will have lessons and activities that acknowledge these important figures as well as events that have had a long lasting impact in our lives. We will review figures such as Sonia Sotomayor, read numerous books by Chicanx/Latinx authors, and learn Spanish songs. This Thursday we encourage all students to wear clothes that represent their culture. Please join us as we celebrate Latinx Heritage Month!
We have also been calling families to sign up for Primary Health and to participate in our schools’ COVID surveillance program. I strongly encourage families to participate in this process. I will gladly schedule meetings or phone calls with you to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about this program.
Our students will also be bringing home a School Site Council and English Language Advisory Council nomination form. Please turn these forms into your child’s teacher this Friday. You may also complete these forms online at the following links:
Thank you again for your help and support,
