Principal's Message

Welcome to McKinley Elementary! This historic school was built in 1932 and has some of the most spectacular views in Santa Barbara. Located right across the street from Santa Barbara City College, McKinley Elementary serves students in preschool through sixth-grade in the lower Westside of Santa Barbara. Our staff of incredible educators and support staff provide a caring learning environment that supports students to reach their potential.
At McKinley Elementary, we provide a robust learning experience for all of our students. We have a strong focus on science and every student has a device (chromebook or iPad) to enhance their daily learning. Along with a school-wide music, art, PE and after school programs, McKinley students have a variety of arenas to showcase their strengths and increase their abilities in others. McKinley Staff believes that every student will meet learning expectations when they are provided clarity about the learning goals and the appropriate support to meet those goals.
McKinley Elementary also believes in community partnerships. Our community partners include Antioch, City of Santa Barbara Recreation Department, Wilderness Youth Project and UCSB. By collaborating with community partners, McKinley students have additional opportunities to enhance their educational experience and improve their understanding of the incredible city that is Santa Barbara.
I would invite all parents, guardians, family members and interested community members to support our students by getting involved with our school. By volunteering and/or donating you can significantly support all of our efforts to provide the highest quality public education possible. Thank you.
Ms. Rachel Gonzales-Harris
