Principal Message 4/9

Dear McKinley Families,

The school board recently approved that all students participating in hybrid learning will return to school starting Monday April 12.  What does this mean for your child?  Below are some questions we have heard from parents and staff:

ARE WE STILL HAVING DISTANCE LEARNING?

Yes, the only students that are returning to school are hybrid learning students.

WILL MY SON OR DAUGHTER KEEP THE SAME TEACHER?

Hybrid learning students will keep the same teacher!  Group A students and Group B students will then become one class.  Students in distance learning will remain with their classes and distance learning teacher.

IS DISMISSAL TIME GOING TO CHANGE?

All students will have the same arrival AND dismissal time they have had since beginning with hybrid with the exception of one change.  Wednesdays will be an early release date for all students.  All students will be dismissed at 1:30PM except for Ms. Esquivel and Ms. Lillibridge’s classes.

HOW WILL THE SCHOOL MANAGE ALL STUDENTS IN THE MORNING?

Students can now stand 3 feet apart when they are in line waiting to get their surveys scanned and temperature checked.  Parents will now have to drop their students off and not wait with them in line to ensure appropriate social distancing between students.

BUT WHAT IF WE ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH IPASS?

We understand that many family members are still having issues with completing the survey at home.  We will have a check in station for those families near the preschool building.

WHAT SAFETY MEASURES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED?

Students who show any signs of COVID symptoms will be sent home.  We will have minimal visitors on campus.  Anyone on campus has to wear a mask including our students.  All staff members will maintain social distancing of  6 feet apart.  Students can stand and sit 3 feet apart.  We have sinks placed around campus for students to wash their hands before entering and exiting their classrooms.

WHERE WILL MY STUDENT BE DISMISSED?

Dismissal locations will be the same.

WILL THERE BE A-OK?

Unfortunately, there will be no after school programming onsite now that all students are back.  You can call the front office if you need assistance with after school care.

SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer learning will be provided June 14-July 23.  More information will be coming.

Con mucho orgullo,
